Simian Mobile Disco - Hustler

Music video by Simian Mobile Disco performing Hustler. (C) 2007 Interscope Records.

So this video can probably offend a lot of people. I'm personally not one of those, in fact I fall on the other end of the spectrum with the people who aren't afraid to admit that it's kind of hot. The track has some girl with a seductive voice rapping about going to the record store and being a hustler. Two things that I must admit hit home with me:) Big Up to Simian Mobile Disco for having fun with it and making a video that it is hard to turn away from. Well Done!

LTJ Bukem - Horizons

Each new hour holds new chances for new beginnings, the horizon leans forward offering you space to place new steps of change.

Here's a classic jungle track by one of the genre's masters, LTJ Bukem. While most jungle artists try to see who can make their music harder than the others, Bukem has always had his work steadfast to the pulse of jungle beauty, pushing the boundaries and expectations of Drum and Bass or Jungle. This particular track used to be one of my favorites and reminds me of my roommate who owned this Logical Progression Box Set. I always wanted that thing.

Modeselektor - Deboutonner

Bruno Levy took thousands of photographs in Patan, Nepal over the course of a week using flashlights and long exposures.

Here Modeselektor show why they are some of the best at what they do, making dance music that stimulates the mind, body and soul. The video is outstanding and keeps you intrigued just as the shifting times of the track.

Tempah T - Next Hype

Tempah T - Next Hype Video 2000 And Pakks Coming Soon.

Wow. No apologies here. I love this song. I just heard it for the first time and had to hear it five times in a row. This one is a must download. This is so big in England that it led to a Pars'R Us T-shirt craze. And I see why cos this is that hot shit! Don't be scurred, go on and love it, you know you want to. It's ok, you don't have to be a gangster to love this hot mess. Get in touch with that inner rage and clear off desk or two.

Gold Panda - Back Home

Official video for Back Home from the Miyamae EP. Video cut together from public domain footage.

Gold Panda produces a perfectly imperfect hybrid of beats caught between the roughness of traditional hip-hop and the beauty of electronic. To the unrefined ear it could sound, exactly that, unrefined. There is much perfectionism at play here as Gold Panda makes a sound that reminds me of Prefuse 73, but less indulgent of layers and void of scratching. This would mesh perfectly with the likes of Nosaj Thing, Daedalus or Flying Lotus. The video using old footage from when home videos were new are fun and show amusements parks that would be hard-pressed to amuse the overstimulated youth of today, yet cease to fascinate in a strange yearning for what has passed.

Miike Snow - Animal

Directed by Sebastian Mlynarski For more info: www.myspace.com/miikesnow Purchase Miike Snow's album, available on iTunes.

I enjoyed this song so much that when I found out who it was, I called my local independent radio station to request it the other morning. I know they have it because I first heard it on their station. I didn't hear them say who it was and I thought I might had been hearing a new TV On The Radio, a pretty obvious comparison for this track. When I called I said, "Hello, I'd like to request a song." A cheerful voice replied, "Sure man, what would you like to hear." After placing my request, the less cheerful response was, "Ok, we'll try our best to fit that in." I guess there wasn't enough space between rehashing old U2 classics and the non-stop Kings Of Leon marathon they're running to play something new and refreshing. It probably got beat out by the new Green Day. I can't run a radio station, but this blog will work for now.

Cornelia - The Meaning Of That Day

Directed by Johan Holm www.fictionform.com.

Cornelia is from the Swedish island Oland. She used to be the singer of a band called Popshop, but has currently ventured into solo territory. She makes cute and bubbly synth-pop that reminds me of Gwen Stefani singing over some beats you might find on a Bjork album. I think Bjork's swan dress may have inspired this dress also. It looks kind of dangerous. If one were to trip and fall and get that thing wrapped around your head, suffocation could definitely ensue. It's like the ultimate anti-swimwear. I know I shouldn't be focusing so much on the dress but it just demands so much attention, does it not? So now that I've given it's just dues, let's get back to the important thing, which is..... oh yeah this songs good and I think Cornelia's definitely got something really good going on here.
